Character Creation

To create a character you will need to give him/her the following information and post it in the character aps area of the forum. In order to register for the forum please complete the registration form, found there and also send an email with the name you have registered and a brief statement, in English, declaring your intention to join CVD as a player.

Name: Duhr

Gender: Pretty obvious. Remember your character's gender doesn't need to match your own.

Age: Think hard about this one. Your character's age needn't match your own but it should fit with their story. For instance if your character is an experianced soldier he should probably be at least in his mid 20's.

Species: Initialy you'll be able to choose between Dampiel, Man Beast, Half-Beast, Wildman, Lycanthrope, or of course Human. See the species list for information. Sometimes species can be modified through use of the flaw system.

Character Alignment: This will basicly describe your character's leanings. Hero (a heroic character duh) Dark (A selfish character who CAN be evil but does not HAVE to be) Neutral (no particular side but can have leanings one way or the other)

Religion: Because spirits and the supernatural are heavily involved in this game your character's choice of religion will play into his/her story. It can be a real one or fictional. There are no wrong choices just different angles to play your story from. Of course some jobs just don't go with certain religions. For instance an atheist slayer wouldn't be workable.

Job: The job system will give you two main classes and a third sub class. See Jobs list for details.

Class 1: This will define your character's personality the most. If it conflicts with class 2 in qualities class 1 will override. Class 1 will have all the qalities and abilities of the class put in this space.

Class 2: Like Class 1 you'll have the all of the abillities of this class and all qualities as long as they don't conflict with class 1.

Sub-class 3: This is more your character's passing interest or hobby. You'll gain the qualities but not the abillities of this class.

Weapon of choice: You can start with a weapon of your own choosing. This however doesn't only depict what weapons you'll start with but also your primary weapon listed here will be the one you're most familliar with. That means even if you don't have classes lending to this weapon your character will still have at least a basic knowledge of how to use it.

Your weapon can't be enchanted initially or hold any special properties beyond its basic design. See weapons guide. Multiple weapons are allowed but there is a limit of three weapons. (One primary weapon and two smaller secondary weapons) It is not necessary to have three weapons however. Remember that the more weapons you carry the more you're weighed down and encumbered. Please be historicly accurate. A staff member will help you research if necessary. It is not necessary to list holy weapons as your weapon if you are using a class capable of using them. They will be considered as part of your posessions. Also certain multiple weapons may be considered as a collective. For instance a collection of identical throwing weapons would be considered one as would a bow and its arrows. However two guns would not. Only a Marksman may start out with a gun. Shields are considered weapons. If you start with a gun, you will begin with 8 bullets. If you start with a bow, you will begin with 16 arrows. Your starting bullets or arrows may NOT be made of silver.

Appearance: What you look like eyes, hair, clothes, hight ect. You can not create a character who starts with armor.

Flaw: (optional) This step is not necessary but some of you may wish to make a character more interesting by making them less than perfect. This can be most anything you imagin be it a physical dissabillity, social stigma, phobia, mental disorder, or even something as simple as being old or short. Be creative. The more your flaw inhibbits you the better the benefit you can trade it for. You may also create numerous weak flaws for one good flaw or one major flaw for numerous weak benefits. Innate personality traits do not qualify as flaws, nor drawbacks to your class which already exist. Extra Benefit: (optional) If you list a flaw you can add a little extra power to your character. A unique trait that lets your character do their job a bit better than an ordinary person. Please be proportionate to the severity of your flaw and connect it somehow to your existing classes. The most powerful benefits require the harshest flaws to balance them.

If you change your mind about your flaws you may update your flaws any time between when your bio is aproved and when it goes up on the main site. Once your bio has gone up on the site you may change your flaws once per quest. Please stay consistant with your story when doing so.

Backstory:

This is where your character came from and what he/she is like. Since the game is strongly story driven your backstory will need to relate to your species and class.

Your backstory will need to place you in the time frame of disharmony and not conflict with the main storyline. You can't play as any of the following.

  • An existing Castlevania character
  • A member of the Belmont clan
  • The predecessor of a later Castlevania character
  • the Decendant of an earlier Castlevania character

    However you CAN play as

  • A member of the D'Rais clan
  • A member of the Dunasty clan
  • A relative of Bram Stoker's Dracula character (such as Harker, westerna, morris ect.) as long as you aren't a direct predecessor of that character. (for instance you can't be Quincy's father but you could be his uncle)
  • Anything else you make up.

Once you've made your character profile you submit it via the message board's character submission forum. The Game Master will review it and if it's accepted give you aproval. Once it's aproved please repost a complete bio in a single post on the "Registered Characters" forum for archiving. Please use proper grammar and spelling when writing your Bio.

In Castlevania Disharmony you are allowed to have up to three player characters and it is possible to earn more. Please list in your signiture what other characters you have in order to help keep track of who controls who. If you wish you can suspend a player character into NPC status. In order to do this post in the character aps area of the message board. While in NPC mode a character can not quest, or aquire or lose money or items. You can however continue to RP with that character.

In the sense of fairness and cooperation between players you may not buy and sell or trade between two characters you control, and they should not quest together unless there are no other players joining the quest and there are still untaken slots open.

As the forum requires an email address for each registration, please use a valid Email address for all accounts and set notification of private messages to off.

Remember that the forum is where all the activity will go on so you need to register there. Registration is automated so you don't need to ask anyone to do it.

Once your character is accepted, create a sig with your basic information including name and other traits which are subject to change such as money, posessions, and skills. Other information should simply be linked to in your registered characters post. Include a link to your character's bio. If you like you can also link to an off site version of your bio if you'd like to host it yourself.

Bios are accepted on a basis of conforming with rules, historical accuracy, and accuracy to Castlevania canon. Quality in writing, spelling, and grammar will also play into your bio. Please do not write your bio in first person (unless this is a major part of your presentation), or use abreviations and internet slang. These will result in an immediate rejection. Exceptionally well written bios will be rewarded.
